Saltsea Chronicles

I was originally meant to only come aboard to set up a few character rigs for use on the exploration sections of the game, but ended up working on all 3D animation which was expanded to cover island, boat and close up dialogue sections.
All characters were made to imitate, and fit in with, the 2D art used in the rest of the game.

Kittick

Close Up Rig

Kittick’s rig went through a couple of steps of refinement, adding extra edge loops and smoothness to specific problem spots where the polygons were visible in close ups.
Like all other close up character rigs, his expressions were made using separate 3D meshes that we then turned on and off for different emotions.

Location Rig

Kittick’s Location Rig is simpler and more optimised, with a slightly higher polycount on the hair to minimize visible faceting, sculpted and decimated to speed up its production.
